
A little local judging and mentoring by Selesti
NUCA (Norwich University College of the Arts) have successfully run the second year of their student business competition judged by Selesti amongst other local sponsors. The Dragon's Den style competition built upon the inaugural event last year.
The first prize, worth £5000 made up of of cash and mentoring hours from the companies involved, went to 3rd year student Laura Garrow for her inventive art concept, which is at prototype stage at present.
Her proposal centred around custom are installations which utilise discreetly powered L.E.D.s to create unique and striking effects for clieintele such as high end hotels as well as private customers with an abundance of disposal income.
Selesti will be assisting in aquiring a domain and pointing Laura in the right direction to get her online presence online set up - along with helping her scope the best website possible. We have already spoken with Laura about the importance of having a content management system, and will guide her in acquiring her ecommerce functionality for her website such as integrating it with our payment gateway partners Sagepay.
The second prize - a cash and mentoring bundle worth £2,500 was awarded to to Isabelle and Matthew who run Klubbclub, a collaborative project which blurs the boundaries between a product and a piece of art. They sell fashion & household items alongside creating imaginative exhibition/gallery spaces which has already seen them take the Klubbclub name around the world.
Selesti will be offering their time in helping improve their website, giving advice on web design, Search Engine Optimisation and e-commerce, naturally areas of particular expertise within our team.
The four runners up will each receive an hour's worth of time from all the sponsors, who alongside Selesti included Steeles Law, Farrows, Barclays, Lovewell-Blake & the Norfolk Network.
Selesti also offered additional support for the project in the form of sponsored beer mats, posters, email marketing, branding for the project and fliers.
