Selesti and Qube Collaborate on Bebo My Sims Party Application
With the social networking phenomenon looking likely to continue its dominance in the digital world, we are working with even more of our clients to expand their digital presence with the help of the many social networking sites; Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Bebo to name but a few.
Bebo is a social networking site, which primarily targets 13-24 year olds. It's a site we’ve become increasingly familiar with due to various projects we have worked on in the past, including the High School Musical Ice Tour page which we designed and built with Balloon Dog late last year.
When Qube contacted us just before Christmas to discuss a possible collaboration on a Bebo project we jumped at the chance to work on another social networking project. Qube, who specialise in social media, provided us with the initial brief that we then developed together in order to produce the final product.
Applications such as those on Bebo have become increasingly popular in the last few years and are now seen by many as a great online marketing tool. It has been proven that apps such as those on Bebo are especially affective with the younger generation, so an activity like this is ideal for the age group that is being targeted for My Sims.
The MySims Trophy Trail, is a simple and easy to use game, which involves users adding the application to their profile and then collecting badge codes throughout Bebo, which when submitted to the application unlock the badges, which then appear on their profile.
This Flash application is completely flexible and allows Qube to update all aspects of the badges; the images, the names, the descriptions and their corresponding codes all by updating the XML. This allows Qube to have total control over the application.
The application has been a great success and Qube have been able to monitor the usage due to the reporting access which we provided them with. At any time they can quickly and easily monitor the usage of the app and the number of badges that have been collected by Bebo members.
