New Foodierooms Booking & Listing Website
In the spring of 2009, an entrepreneur with an already successful recruitment business in the capital invited Selesti to pitch for an exciting new project – a website specialising in accommodation and retreats for self-described 'foodies' to get away to – foodierooms.com.
The business model was simply based upon selling listings on the website, with a featured profile for your venue and its facilities available at a suitable premium. We were awarded the project based on the strength of the web design in our portfolio, as it was so important to create a site which would engage and enthuse both the audience with high levels of disposable income and also create a digital "coffee-table" style directory that venues would clamour to appear within.
Whilst a gap in the market existed for this online list of hotels and B&Bs specifically driven by gastronomic experience, it was important to get the design quickly created and signed off – and the very first theme we proposed hit the nail on the head, producing a look and feel which would connote the popular appearance of classic English wood panels you may find in a recently refurbished country inn. We employed our creative prowess to develop the Foodierooms brand too.
The content management system which controls this website was designed to enable foodierooms to maintain a significant level of control over what appears on their domain, from changing the featured venues which are prominently situated on the home page and throughout the site, to being able to edit page text using a simple 'click and type' What You See Is What You Get tool.
Among the features we created for the foodierooms website to attract prospective venues to utilise this digital marketing tool included a venue-specific login area. This enables the main administration of the foodierooms control panel to create new users and then set up access for them to their page alone. The venue can upload new photos, menus, reviews and text descriptions/information, which is then automatically forwarded to the main admin user for approval. The content is approved to be set live on the website with just a click of a button.
The venue login area invites and encourages venues to take control of their appearance on the site, which minimises the administrative burden on foodierooms administration users and is a great selling point. In order to achieve the best possible user experience for the venues utilising their login, we are continually honing the process to adapt as we learn the habits of these users, the file types and media they wish to upload and its ramifications.
