It all started as the brainchild of Ollie Blackmore back in 2005, after all why couldn’t a Norfolk gent start up his own web design agency to rival the best in the UK? Born on the 4th July, our once little agency run from the confines of Ollie’s house, has grown by 2013 into a multi award winning integrated powerhouse of web development and marketing talent, still led creatively by Ollie's fair (ish) hand.
Now in our eighth year, this digital agency has seen its fair share of new clients and colleagues, with new offices recently delivering ever more exciting opportunities for Selesti to grow as a brand synonymous with excellence.
Tom Parsley has been there (nearly) every step of the way. Having joined in 2007, he has helped Ollie in the six following years to grow and develop a comprehensive list of clients from all sorts of sectors, and he continues to head up our client services team.
With web development obviously being a key part of our business, we need the right person in charge of our team of digital geniuses. Such raw power could generate far too much awesome for our clients to handle, so it has been Jamie Cotton’s job since 2010 to focus this design and development energy on creating the best of the best. You’ll usually find him wearing shutter shades (we won’t tell you what he calls them) whilst he reads reams of code, it helps him ‘focus’ apparently.
Last year we really stepped it up, along with our new larger home, we expanded our search marketing via acquisition of one of the UK's longest running search businesses. We were commended at the DADI Awards, and also shortlisted for the Guardian’s Top 10 Websites of the Year. Such a lot to fit into twelve months, but we managed it. Not least with the help of Hayley Rissmann, the new search marketing manager, who's SEO skills pays the bills and then some - and has helped us to grow Selesti's SEM team in number and success to reach brand new heights.
2013 saw the addition of a number of new faces to the client services team. Content king Ed Wootton joined in January, kicking the new year off in style. Hot on his heels in March was Victoria Lynskey, bringing her experience in marketing to the role of Digital Account Exec, and she has quickly become a favourite of many clients. Keir Harness then joined the search team in August, exuding a passion for digital marketing that immediately had an impact.
The design and development side of the studio already boasted the crew who have brought home the awards bacon in the last few years, Emily, Richard, Matt & Owen to name but a few. Those guys' numbers were bolstered in 2013 through the addition of Luke Burroughs, whose eye for all things digital meant that he progressed quickly from intern to full-time designer within weeks of joining early this year. Kriss Cox is the latest recruit, hitting the ground running, getting straight onto a couple of mobile and web apps projects in his first few weeks.
We moved, we grew, and someone noticed. This year we expanded our haul of awards and accolades yet again. Having been shortlisted for a range of awards at the Digital Entrepreneur Awards in October, we walked away with the silverware that announced us as “Stand-Out Agency Of The Year 2013”. Oh, you’ve heard about that?
Well how about us being chosen in the EDP’s Future50 Class of 2013? Really? It was in the paper? Well what better way for us to bring in 2014 than with an accolade that recognises us as a leading business in our region, set to have a big impact on the local economy in the coming year.
