Selesti is heading towards its 8th birthday, and since 2005 we have always had corporate social responsibility at the forefront of our business model and thoughts.
In the past we have offered our design expertise, created websites and provided hosting for free when a cause moves us to get involved. Lately we’ve been concentrating on raising money more directly with our own bare hands (and feet, and legs...) for those less fortunate than ourselves.
During Movember 2011 we launched the Tache Tag App for our Digital Marketing client Scottish Opera. This iPhone camera driven app proved to be very successful. This got us thinking about Movember 2012, and after unsuccessfully being able to grow a mustache I decided to have one tattooed onto my leg, raising money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Next up was Laura Holland, a Digital Account Executive at Selesti, who braved fiery hot coals peaking at a temperature of 1,500 degrees during a Fire Walk on 8th January this year. She raised just over £300 for Norwich based charity Keeping Abreast. This echoes the free design work and website booking form we set up to sell tickets for a Cancer Research event back in 2010 when someone approached us wanting to raise money after losing her Mother to the disease.
And to bring you bang up to date, our Managing Director Ollie Blackmore has been training for the last few months in preparation for a 900 km cycle trip that is due to take place in February 2013. The 550 mile ride takes Ollie across some of the harshest and hottest routes in United Arab Emirates and is aiming to raise over £10k for local Cancer Norwich charity The Big C. More info about the ride is available at www.touroftheemirates.com, donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/ollieblackmore
As a company we like to get involved in everything we can to help out charities, particularly locally or with a local impact, our temporary discomfort can mean the world to those less fortunate than ourselves. If you think we can help your organisation or have a fund raising idea for Selesti’s team to throw themselves at, please contact our team.

[caption id="attachment_275" align="aligncenter" width="300"] During Movember 2012 I raised money for Prostate Cancer UK by joining forces with a local tattoo studio in Norwich, Ink Addiction Studios (inkaddictionstudios.co.uk) to get a mustache tattooed. The boys did a fantastic job and donated 25% of the money to Prostate Cancer. You can still donate here: http://uk.movember.com/mospace/5918829[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_281" align="aligncenter" width="213"] Ollie Blackmore and his friend Jason Roberts have been training for months to prepare for the 4 day ride this February. Day one sees them cycle over 130 miles from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain. They then continue on to Hatta on Day two, heading up the coast, through Fujairah to Dibba on Day three, eventually arriving in Dubai on Day 4, a final stretch of over 150 miles. You can sponsor Ollie here www.justgiving.com/ollieblackmore. Please also check out their website www.touroftheemirates.com giving details of the trip.[/caption]
