COVID-19 healthcare platform
As the situation continues to evolve, new problems and questions around the coordination of research efforts, nursing, medical best practices, and shortages of critical equipment are rising daily, causing unprecedented disruption to every aspect of the care the NHS delivers.
Until the launch of Weshare.Healthcare, there had been no central repository for process and product innovation in response to COVID-19. The founder of WeShare, Ryan Kerstein and CEO of 7billionideas, David Harkin worked in partnership with Selesti to help fix this.
Selesti have partnered with us to create a unique solution to help drive grass-root health innovation. Their expertise has been vital in developing a platform that is already sharing unique initiatives, not just in the UK, but internationally.

The problem
Healthcare services around the world face enormous challenges not just in the care of COVID-19 affected patients, but also in the continued delivery of care to the thousands who still require NHS services for unrelated conditions. Healthcare providers are considering how they effectively remodel their services; provide continuity for patients with chronic health conditions; and meet the needs of those requiring acute care, surgery and obstetric care – all with limited resources.
Across the NHS, Europe, and the world, innovative solutions are being developed in answer to the questions posed by COVID-19. Processes and care pathways are being redesigned, new products brought to market, and old products reimagined. However, without a central repository for these solutions, ensuring they are shared across the industry and to the relevant staff members posed a complex challenge.
The solution
David & Ryan identified that the ideation platform, which Selesti built for 7billionideas to capture improvements and optimisations from staff in education and corporate environments, could be a great place for these COVID-19 solutions to be housed. This platform allows users to upload ideas and innovations for their business.
This powerful technology was the perfect platform to be repurposed for healthcare workers across the world. And so, Weshare.Healthcare was born.
Weshare Healthcare aims to enable healthcare professionals from around the world to share their initiatives. Our team is proud to have used their expertise in web technology and agile project management to play a part in helping to transfer the knowledge of innovative ideas and solutions for the benefit of all medical staff during this unprecedented time.
Agile work = rapid deployment
Selesti set to work within a day of hearing about the idea, and within a week delivered the first iteration for testing & population. By focusing on the critical features only, we were able to speed up delivery of this solution, meaning Weshare.Healthcare was able to offer this much needed solution at a time when it was needed most.
This minimum viable product (MVP) approach allowed healthcare workers to share a solution quickly at the end of a busy shift and categorise them for fellow professionals to see.
From brief to deployment
Selesti have been amazing. Under pressure we had to evolve our platform for the NHS community, making it public facing and focusing on solutions instead of ideas, working in collaboration with Selesti made it possible.
David Harkin, Founder of 7billionideas
MVP approach to a worldwide issue
Since going live with the MVP, we have tweaked and refined the platform further to include nice-to-haves such as an 'About us' page and team profiles. The kind of features that, were this a typical project, would have been rolled out at the start. This, however, does not mark the end of Selesti’s involvement in Weshare.Healthcare. Our iterative approach means we will continue to improve and evolve this system to ensure we provide the healthcare industry with the very best collaborative platform to help with fighting the worldwide pandemic.
